Moving in and local administration
The first days in a new home combine a handover, an address and a long list of accounts. Use a simple record of the room's condition and your procedures so small missing details do not become expensive later.

At handover
Photograph existing damage, test the keys and note meters or equipment that the agent asks you to check. Keep the move-in condition record and report problems using the method named in your contract.
Do this before furniture hides walls, floors or appliances. Record the date, location and a wide and close photo of each issue, then keep the submission confirmation with your contract documents.
Address procedures
Eligible foreign residents generally need to submit a moving-in notification to the relevant municipal office within 14 days of establishing residence. Bring your residence card and confirm the current procedure with your ward or city office; the office records the new address on the resident record and may update the card.
Mail and daily setup
- Arrange mail forwarding and update banks, employers, schools and subscriptions.
- Check local disaster, transport and health-service information for your new address.
- Keep the office receipt or confirmation for any registration you complete.
When you later leave or move to another municipality, check whether a moving-out notification is required and arrange it before the deadline your local office gives you.
Your first week
Keep one folder for the lease, address-office receipt, utility accounts, inspection notes and service confirmations. It gives you one place to check when a company or the building manager asks for your address, customer number or move-in date.
